CBT Therapy for Phobia.
Phobias can develop around any object or situation, and some people may have multiple phobias.
Specific phobias are about a specific object or situation, such as spiders or flying.
They often develop in childhood or adolescence and for some people, they will lessen as they get older. Being afraid of something you have to see or do a lot, can start to have a serious impact on your life.
Sometimes phobias seem much more complex and tend to have a more disruptive or disabling impact on your life. They tend to develop when you are an adult.
Two of the most common complex phobias are social phobia and agoraphobia.
Our team of Therapists is experienced in helping people understand Phobias and manage the symptoms.
Following a comprehensive assessment, each therapist is able to identify the course of treatment. This often involves focusing on the phobia, developing tasks to tolerate and be exposed to the anxiety whilst gradually changing safety behaviours (like checking, reassurance-seeking, avoidance etc).
Each session will have a small homework task that will help you progress in overcoming your phobia and getting back to a meaningful life.
We help, individuals, couples, children (7+) and specialise in helping individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
We are all fully qualified CBT Psychotherapists with University Degrees in addition to our 2 years CBT Training.
